{Featured Friday Review & Giveaway} New Music
Thanks to my proclaimed love for children’s music and the hip new “kindie” rock scene, I’ve gotten some great music sent to me over the past few weeks and I wanted to share some of it with you.

Science Fair from Spare the Rock Records A compilation album featuring some of my favorite children’s music artists like Elizabeth Mitchell and Renee & Jeremy, Science Fair features several well-written and very dance-able tunes about - you guessed it! - science. If you loved Here Comes Science by They Might Be Giants, you’re going to love Science Fair. Plus, the proceeds from the album go to Girls, Inc., an organization that works to improve science education for girls. Science Fair is available on Amazon and iTunes.

A Curious Children’s Album by John Wakefield Now, this one wasn’t exactly what I expected. This album isn’t for kids. It’s about the experience of raising them. A true labor of love, John describes it as “great blog posts put to music.” You will definitely find yourself nodding (and laughing) at several of the songs. The music itself reminded me of some of my favorite Broadway shows. So if you’ve found yourself wishing Rent had more relevance to your life as a parent, then this album is for you! A Curious Children's Album is available on iTunes and Amazon.

Take This Town by Makenzie Caine Another album that isn’t technically for kids but one I think the whole family can enjoy. Makenzie’s voice is completely lovely and the songs are all sweetly written and crafted. If you are a fan of Elizabeth Mitchell or folk artist Dar Williams, I think you’ll like Makenzie. Her song “Sweet Baby” about new motherhood had me tearing up and her version of Cat Steven’s "Moonshadow" had Griffin dancing. Take This Town is available on iTunes and Amazon.
